Library panel

One browser for the project's reusable Symbols and its imported Images, Videos and Audios, with sorting, renaming and a way to clean out what you no longer use.

This page has not been translated into your language yet, so you are reading the English original.

The Library panel lists two kinds of thing side by side: Symbols you have built inside the project, and media (Images, Videos and Audios) you have imported into it. Both are reusable across as many layers as you like.

Opening it

Open it from Window ▸ Library. It is off by default.

Adding and removing symbols

+ Symbol creates a new, empty symbol, automatically named "Symbol" plus the next free number. Delete removes the selected symbol; it stays disabled unless a symbol is selected, since media assets in this panel are never selectable in the first place.

List and grid views

The burger menu switches between Show as List and Show as Grid. Right-click a symbol for Edit Symbol, Rename or Delete, and right-click a media item for Remove from Library. Both views carry the same menu.

Grid view shows a type icon for every item rather than an image preview, so you are reading names and icons either way, not thumbnails.

Sorting and filtering

Sort by Type (the default), Name, Newest first or Oldest first. Four toggles (Symbols, Images, Videos, Audios) control which types are listed at all, all on by default.

Renaming

Double-click a symbol to enter it for editing. Right-click ▸ Rename turns the row into a text field; committing it renames the library symbol and every layer elsewhere in the project that instances it, in one undo step. Media rows cannot be renamed here.

Purging unused items

The burger menu's Purge Unused… opens a count of unused symbols and unused media, with Remove and Cancel. A symbol counts as unused when no layer in the project shares its name; a media asset counts as unused when no Video, Audio or Image layer points at its file.

Remove deletes every unused item in one pass, as one undoable step.

Dragging into the scene

Drag a symbol onto the canvas to place a fresh instance of it there, selected and ready to move. Drag a media asset onto the canvas to add it as a layer of the matching type: a video becomes a Video layer, an image becomes an Image layer, both loaded and centred on the canvas, and audio becomes an Audio layer.

Right-click works the same in both views: a symbol offers Edit Symbol, Rename and Delete, and a media asset offers Remove from Library, with a confirmation when layers still point at it.

The window's open or closed state is remembered between sessions, but the view mode, sort order, type filters and selection are not: they reset to their defaults every time you relaunch Celas Studio.
