The 3D viewport

Flip Celas into 3D and your flat layers lift off the page — each becomes a card floating at its own depth. It's built for parallax, sweeping camera moves and staging a shot in real space, all with the same 2D artwork you already drew.

Turning it on

Up in the viewport's top bar there's a little mode switch: FX · Camera View · 3D. Click 3D. The flat canvas becomes a 3D stage and the 2D grid and guides step out of the way. Click it again to drop back to flat 2D — nothing about your artwork changes, it's just how you're looking at it.

Two ways to look

  • Free orbit (Camera View off) — your own camera. Left-drag empty space to spin around the scene and roll the wheel to move in and out. It's orthographic by default, like a blueprint, so parallel edges stay parallel — perfect for arranging layers in depth.
  • Camera View (on) — now you're looking through your scene's real camera, in proper perspective, framed to your canvas with a dark letterbox around it. Orbit is locked here, because this is exactly what the final render sees.

Depth & tilt

Every top-level layer sits at a depth you set in Properties → Position (the Z value). Push a layer back and it drifts less when the camera pans — instant parallax. You can also tilt a layer in space with Rotation X and Y; plain Rotation Z is still your normal 2D spin.

Moving things in 3D

Pick a layer and a gizmo appears, lined up with that layer's own tilt. With the Select tool you get move arrows — red for X, green for Y, blue for Z — drag one to slide along that axis. Switch to the Transform tool and you also get rotation rings and scale handles. Let go and it auto-keys, so posing in 3D just becomes animation.

The orientation cube

Down in the bottom-left corner there's a small cube of X/Y/Z balls. Click one to snap the view to it: Z jumps to the front, X to the right side, Y to the top — a quick way to get a clean straight-on angle back.

The camera as an object

Your camera is a two-node rig — an eye and a Point of Interest (POI) it always aims at. In the free orbit view, select the camera and grab either node: move the eye to reposition the whole rig, move the POI to just re-aim. Camera Depth, over in Properties, dials how strong the perspective and parallax feel.

The 3D ground grid has its own show/hide toggle and its own colour in Preferences, separate from the flat grid. Hold Space while dragging to pan instead of orbit. One thing it is not: a 3D model importer — there's no OBJ or glTF here. It's for staging your 2D layers in depth, not building 3D geometry.
