Adjustments and filters
Change the colours of a painted layer, or blur, sharpen, add noise and more, with a live preview, inside the selection, on one drawing or on every drawing of the layer.
Pixel ▸ Adjustments and Pixel ▸ Filters change the pixels of the selected Raster Cells or Pixel layer for good. They need exactly one editable bitmap layer selected, and each one is a single history step.
Running one
- Select the Raster Cells or Pixel layer. To change only part of it, make a pixel selection first.
- Choose an item from Pixel ▸ Adjustments or Pixel ▸ Filters.
- Adjust the settings. The canvas shows the result while Preview is on.
- Press OK or Enter to apply, or Cancel or Esc to put the pixels back.
Invert and Desaturate have nothing to set, so they apply at once. On a Raster Cells layer the window adds All cells of this layer, which applies the same settings to every drawing of the layer instead of only the one on screen. It starts off each time.
A floating selection is placed first. With a selection live only the selected pixels change, softly across a feathered edge. With Alpha Lock on, every pixel keeps its coverage, so a blur cannot spread into empty space.
Each item remembers the last values you used, even after Cancel, until you quit Celas Studio.
Adjustments

| Hue/Saturation | Hue -180 to 180°, Saturation -100 to 100, Lightness -100 to 100, Colorize | 0°, 0, 0, off. Colorize tints every pixel with the one hue Hue picks |
| Levels | Input Black 0 to 253, Input White 2 to 255, Gamma 0.10 to 9.99, Output Black 0 to 255, Output White 0 to 255 | 0, 255, 1.00, 0, 255 |
| Curves | One curve with two handles, applied to red, green and blue alike | A straight line |
| Invert | None | |
| Desaturate | None | |
| Posterize | Levels 2 to 64 | 4 |
| Threshold | Threshold 1 to 255 | 128. Pixels at or above it turn white, the rest black |
Filters
| Item | Settings | Defaults |
|---|---|---|
| Gaussian Blur | Radius 0.5 to 250 px | 4 px |
| Motion Blur | Angle -180 to 180°, Distance 1 to 500 px | 0°, 20 px |
| Unsharp Mask | Amount 1 to 500%, Radius 0.1 to 250 px, Threshold 0 to 255 | 100%, 2 px, 0. Threshold leaves differences smaller than it alone |
| Add Noise | Amount 0 to 100%, Monochromatic | 12%, off |
| Median | Radius 1 to 20 px | 2 px |
| Pixelate | Cell Size 2 to 256 px | 8 px |
| Offset | Horizontal and Vertical, -4096 to 4096 px | 0, 0. What leaves one edge comes back at the other, which is how you check a tile for seams |
The Motion Blur filter smears the pixels once, in the direction you set. It is not the Motion Blur switch on a layer, which blurs a moving layer along its animation. See Motion blur.
