Applying effects
Effects apply to a layer non-destructively — the source stays intact, and you can reorder, adjust or remove effects at any time.
Available effects
- Outline
- Drop Shadow & Inner Shadow
- Outer Glow & Inner Glow
- Gaussian Blur
- Color Overlay & Gradient Overlay
Clipping & child layers
Use clipping alpha and child layers to confine an effect or paint to the shape of the layer beneath it — ideal for shading inside a character's silhouette.

Effect order matters — an Outline above a Glow reads differently from a Glow above an Outline, so drag them in the stack to taste.
