Smart actions

Smart Actions are reusable poses driven by a bone's angle — turn a dial and a whole pose plays back. Think a mouth that opens as a bone rotates, or a hand that curls into a fist.

Making one

Select a bone, add an action in the Actions panel, and you drop into Action Mode. Pose your rig at a few angles of that driving bone; each pose is captured against the bone's rotation. Apply, and you've got a clip you can trigger just by rotating that bone.

Using them

Back in the list you can rename, edit or delete each action and filter by its driving bone. Because they're driven by angle, they layer naturally on top of your regular keyframe animation.

Actions live with the project, so a rigged character carries its poses wherever it goes.
